Cooking with Elena, simple recipe
Put all the ingredients for the syrup except the honey in a saucepan and boil for exactly two minutes. Turn off and as soon as the boiling stops, add the honey and let it cool.
Preheat the oven to 170 degrees with the fan off.
In a bowl add the liquid ingredients, the cinnamon and the icing sugar. Stir and add the orange zest
Mix the baking powder with the flour and gradually add them to the liquid ingredients, stirring very gently.
Shape the melomakarona very gently and place them in a pan on a baking sheet
Bake for 35 minutes without the fan and 10 minutes in the air.
While the biscuits are still hot, dip them in the syrup for 30 seconds and place them on a griddle to drain
Put them on a plate and sprinkle with honey, walnuts and sesame seeds
For the biscuits
1 kg of all-purpose flour
20 g baking powder
50 g powdered sugar
500 ml of corn oil
300 g orange juice
75 ml brandy
1 orange (zest)

500 ml of water
700 g of sugar
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 orange cut in half
1/2 tangerine, only the peel
2 cinnamon sticks
200 g thyme honey
