Vegan Stifado with cauliflower

A very tasty meal without the meat


  1. Remove the thick leaves of a cauliflower and boil it for a while (do not remove the small green leaves).

  2. In the meantime, prepare the onions, chop the large one and peel the little onions.

  3. When the cauliflower is ready, take it out of the water and cut it into small pieces on a plate. (we use the hard stalk).

  4. Stick the cloves in your little onions and cauliflower.

  5. Saute the chopped onion over medium heat and after 2-3 minutes add the little onions and the tomato puree. 

  6. Add the bay leaf and the cinnamon stick.

  7. When our onions get a little color, we add the chopped tomatoes.

  8. After they begin to boil, add the cauliflower and fill with water and add the vinegar. Mix gently to maintain your cauliflower whole.

  9. Season with salt and pepper and let it cook until the sauce sets. WE ARE READY !!!!!


1 medium cauliflower 850 gr

1 large onion

650 g small Stifsdo onions (peeled)

3-4 tbsp vinegar (or as much as everyone likes)

olive oil

1 tbsp tomato paste

500 g chopped fresh tomatoes or canned tomatoes

6 cloves

1 bay leaf

1 cinnamon stick

pepper and salt

10 peppercorns

4-5 allspice grains

3 garlic cloves (optional)

1 chili pepper or chili flakes (optional)
