Cheese Pie Snail Shaped with Halloumi

Easy to prepare, great result

  Method  

  1. Fry the onion and set it aside

  2. Mix flour, baking powder and salt and make a well in the center

  3. Pour the liquid dough ingredients into the well and mix

  4. Knead a little and cover to rest for about 30 minutes

  5. Slice the halloumi and add the yogurt, anari, eggs, fried onion and mint

  6. Preheat the oven at 180° in the air

  7. Divide the dough in two and roll out a thin 35x50cm sheet

  8. On the upper side score vertical parallel lines

  9. At the bottom place the filling and roll it up

  10. Roll into a snail shape and place in a greased pan in the center

  11. Repeat the same process with the second sheet

  12. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds

  13. Bake for about 55 minutes

  Ingredients  

For the dough

650 gr. Flour

200 g Greek yogurt

150 g Olive oil

15 g baking powder

½ kg of salt

145 ml orange juice


For the stuffing

1 onion (125g)

25 ml of olive oil

500 g halloumi

250 g anari (fresh salted mizithra)

10-15 g fresh mint

100 g of Greek yogurt

2+1 Eggs

2 tbsp Sesame
