Kleftiko - Greek Slow Cooked lamb

Slow cooked in a casserole dish


  1. Cut the vegetables into slices.

  2. Cut the meat into pieces and place in a bowl

  3. Add all the other ingredients except the cheese and mix well.

  4. Cover with cling film and refrigerate for 12 hours.

  5. Turn the oven to 160 degrees Celsius with the fan off

  6. Place in a greased pan and add the cheese

  7. Close well and bake for 4 hours.


500 g each of veal, lamb and pork cut into small pieces 

400 g of cheese  Cheddar or similar in cubes 

3 medium onions 

3 medium sized tomatoes 

3 peppers in different colors 

4 to 5 cloves of garlic (or more) 

100 ml of olive oil 

100 ml white wine 

1 bunch of thyme fresh or 1 tbsp. dry 

1 spring of rosemary 

Salt and freshly ground pepper 

1 chilli (optional)
